The Moss & Margins Journal Issue No. 1 • August 2026
Dear friend,
Welcome to the very first edition of The Moss & Margins Journal.
If you’ve found your way here, chances are you also believe that life doesn’t have to be rushed to be meaningful. Whether you’re growing tomatoes on a patio, collecting stories from library shelves, coloring with a cup of tea nearby, or simply learning to appreciate slower mornings, I’m so grateful you’re here.
Each month, this little letter will be a place to pause together. I’ll share what’s blooming in the garden, what I’m reading, simple seasonal inspiration, and the small moments that often become the best parts of our days.
Thank you for being here at the very beginning.
With gratitude,
Amber
๐ฟ In the Garden
This month has been filled with tiny victories.
The GreenStalk has been thriving, herbs continue to flourish, and watching vegetables mature reminds me that growth is almost always quieter than we expect. One of my favorite recent milestones has been seeing the garden become a place I genuinely look forward to visiting every morning.
I’m learning that gardening isn’t about perfection—it’s about paying attention.
August Garden Focus
- Harvest often to encourage more growth.
- Water deeply during the Texas heat.
- Celebrate small successes.
- Remember that every season teaches something.
๐ From My Reading Corner
Books continue to remind me why I love slow living.
Lately I’ve been enjoying stories that blend mystery, history, and memorable characters—the kind that make you want just one more chapter before bed.
This month I’m focusing on reading intentionally rather than quickly. Fewer books. Better conversations with the pages.
Current reading goals:
• Finish two books.
• Spend at least twenty quiet minutes reading each evening.
• Keep a handwritten reading journal.
โจ Slow Moments
Here are a few gentle reminders I’m carrying into this month:
• You don’t have to do everything today.
• Tiny routines become meaningful traditions.
• Rest is productive.
• Beauty often hides in ordinary afternoons.
• Growth rarely announces itself while it’s happening.
๐จ Analog Corner
This month I’m making time for hobbies that don’t require notifications.
You’ll often find me:
- Coloring botanical pages with Ohuhu markers
- Journaling beside an open window
- Organizing my reading notebook
- Planning next season’s garden
- Writing ideas with pen and paper before opening my laptop
Creativity feels different when it isn’t rushed.
๐ฑ A Thought to Carry With You
“You only need to tend the next right thing.”
Gardens don’t bloom all at once.
Neither do we.
